Shoes and Undies

By the way, you probably remember that we're collecting undies and shoes for the kids' orphanage. The plan is that we'll box everything up and ship them on our One Year Home Anniversary. I'm hoping to make this a yearly tradition. I've already got a small pile of each, but I've had a few people email me asking if they could help too. SuRe! If you'd like to pick up some new undies or new/like new shoes, send 'em on over.

I wish I could be there to hand-deliver these boxes; I'd love to see their reactions. Oh well. Just have to rest well knowing we did a good thing.

I'll be gathering up some items for you, Shelly. Loved the pictures of your gorgeous family. And, by the way, my mascara was ruined by your stories, too:) Jo from the ttc adoption board

Shelly - just a follow up -
I went ahead and ordered from Hanes.com and had them shipped directly to you!

I just ordered various different sizes - figured there are lots of kiddos that could use the underpants!

Thanks for sharing your story with the rest of us!

I'm all choked up as I'm typing this. These little kids have so few comforts; thank you so much you guys! Even now, Liana still marvels at the elastic in her undies. Jan, I'll let you know when they get here, ok?

(And for everyone else reading; aren't there wonderful people in the world?!!!) :O)

Shelly
Thanks for the email and for putting the info on the site about where to send the shoes and undies. I have sent an email to everyone I know (work, family and friends) and will try and get a big box collected to send to you. I am going out later this week and will buy a big chunk too!
When do you need them by? I asked everyone to make sure they were to me by the end of July. If I sent them beginning of August I assume they would be to you within about 5 days is that ok?
Thank you for such a good reminder of how important it is to remember these kids, especially older ones. I am so busy frantically trying to save for adoption (which seems like the most daunting task) your undies and shoes drive was a good reminder to make sure I am also thinking of what I can do now.
Thank you again, Holly

*jaw hits the floor*

WOW. We're taking boxes to the post office on August 17th, so you have plenty of time.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Holly! You are Awesome!

And KATIE! The shoes from Target came today! They're WoNdErFuL! The size 10 is the same size Liana was when we brought her home, so it was fun for her to see how much she's grown. She assures me that there are lots of little girls who wear that size in the orphanage, and they definitely love PINK! :O)

Many thanks,

Shelly

Shelly (and your gorgeous family!),
My name is Jena, and I post on the TTC boards. I have silently followed your story, and truly find you and your family to be inspirational.
I would like to send some items for you; I will pick up a package of boys and a package of girls underwear and ship them to the address you listed. Any particular sizes more in demand than others? And how about diapers for the little ones?
I hope this message finds you and your family well, and though this is an odd statement from a stranger, I have to say that if I didn't know your children were adopted I wouldn't have guessed ~ your little prince and his proud Daddy bear a striking resemblance.
Sincerely,
Jena

Jena, (you wouldn't find our family terribly inspirational today... everyone is in Top Form at the Fisher house today! Oy!) ;O)

No, I wouldn't think that size matters, but to give you an idea, our orphanage houses kids between 3-8ish years old, so diapers wouldn't be the way to go. Thanks so much for thinking of us!
